I've had this modem for about a month now. It works flawlessly. In fact it increased my speed from roughly 20mb/s to 40mb/s over cox. Its a nice compact unit, and has a couple keyholes for wall/shelf mounting. by Eric |
Excellent Choice For New Modem - 5 Stars
I has having good success with a 3-year old Motorola Surfboard modem, but had been reading that newer modems = faster speeds without having to upgrade service. I checked with Cox Communications to see if the SB6121 was compatible with their service and they said it was so I ordered it. Plugged it in and called them with the MAC & Serial numbers - was up and running in 6 minutes, including 3 minutes of hold time and a minute to restart my router and computer. Ran a speed test through speedtest.net prior to switching modems. Old modem had PING of 27ms, 23.77Mbps download, 2.62Mbps upload. New modem test 10 minutes later: PING 18mx, 41.19Mbps download, 4.33Mbps upload. Not bad for a $100 investment and no additional charges from Cox. Highly recommended if your provider is setup to operate with this modem. by Michael B. |
Awesome speeds - 5 Stars
Don't listen to the people saying this wont work with Comcast. It is now on their list of approved modems and it works great. I'm paying for 15 Mbs and hitting 20 on a regular basis on speedtest.net. Great product totally worth it. Also my 20 Mbs is over wireless haven't tried it wired, it may be even faster. Voidedsoul |

This is the 2nd Motorola modem I have bought. My last modem was SB5101 and was working just fine but realized I needed a faster modem for gaming. This new modem has better led indicator lights, more stability/balance, and many ventilation holes to keep the modem cool. My ISP is Cox and activation went smoothly without problems. I have tested my internet connection on speedtest.net and pingtest.net beforehand and here are my results, SB5101; Downstream: 27.35mb, Upstream: 1.89mb, Ping: 16ms, Jitter: 4ms SB6121; Downstream: 41.75mb, Upstream: 4.95mb, Ping: 10ms, Jitter: 1ms (Wired directly to my PC) I could clearly see the speed even on my browser, as it loads pages faster than before.
